Post Flood Permits

Structures within the flood plain and/or floodway (Zone AE)
Homeowners who live in a flood plain or floodway (Zone AE) are required to obtain a permit to repair/rebuild a structure.

If the structure is found to be substantially damaged and/or substantially improved (SD/SI) the structure will need to be brought into current flood plain compliance before permits will be issued. Substantially damaged/improved structures must be elevated to at least one foot above the base flood elevation as indicated in the FEMA Flood Insurance Study.

The owner will be required to provide proof that the structure has been elevated to meet county flood plain requirements.  A completed Elevation Certificate prepared by a registered and licensed surveyor will be required to be submitted as proof of elevation.

Once the elevation requirements have been satisfied, a permit for repair/rebuild will be issued.

Structures outside of the floodplain and/or floodway (Zone X)
Permits to repair are not required for properties that are not inside of a high-risk flood zone.
